TOPEKA - The State of Kansas has launched a new registration process that automatically registers Unemployment Insurance (UI) applicants for job-search services available at KANSASWORKS.com, the State's official labor exchange job posting site. Through the new registration process, Kansans who apply for UI benefits online or by phone will automatically be issued a username and password for a personal account at KANSASWORKS.com, where they can search job openings, post an online résumé, save job searches and receive e-mail updates. The new process is the result of collaboration between the Kansas Department of Labor, which administers UI benefits, and the Kansas Department of Commerce, which maintains the KANSASWORKS.com site and KANSASWORKS statewide career services system for job seekers. "We are very excited to offer this new automatic registration to the citizens of Kansas," said Kansas Department of Labor Secretary Jim Garner. "We believe this new feature will go a long way toward putting out-of-work Kansans in touch with the services they need to help find new employment." UI applicants who are automatically registered with KANSASWORKS.com will have their username and password mailed to them with their monetary determination notice. UI applicants who file online will also be provided their username and password on the confirmation page at the end of the application process. "We're pleased to launch this new registration process for Kansans," said Kansas Department of Commerce Secretary David Kerr. "This initiative streamlines the labor exchange process, which means we can more quickly connect job seekers with Kansas businesses that have job openings."
