Nonfarm Payroll Employment

SIC

Beginning in January 2003, nonfarm payroll employment estimates will be based on the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS). Place-of-work information gathered from a sample of Kansas employers surveyed under the Current Employment Statistics program will continued to be compiled into monthly estimates for Kansas and metropolitan statistical areas, but will be structured under the new system. Seasonally adjusted figures under the new system, in which recurring seasonal changes are factored out of the estimates, will also be available for Kansas only; seasonal adjustment analysis graphs are also available for Kansas. Both actual and adjusted statistics are also available for specific industries or series of data. Current estimates are developed and distributed monthly. Reconstructed historical data under the NAICS structure are available from 1990 through 2002. For further information, see the article titled North American Industry Classification System.
