Labor Market Report July 2018
Preliminary estimates reported by the Kansas Department of Labor (KDOL) and Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) show a seasonally adjusted unemployment rate of 3.4 percent in July. This was unchanged from June and down from 3.6 percent in July 2017. Read more here.
Secretary Gordon Approves approved Appointment of Judge Larson
Secretary Lana Gordon approved Troy Larson for the position of Kansas Department of Labor (KDOL) Administrative Law Judge, Workers Compensation Division in Lenexa. Larson’s nomination was submitted by the Workers Compensation and Employment Security Boards Nominating Committee to fill the position previously held by Judge Steven Howard who retired in March after serving 27 years. KDOL Short-Term Industry and Occupational Employment Projections
The Kansas Department of Labor has published short-term industry and occupational employment projections for the First Quarter of 2017 to the First Quarter of 2019. Employment is expected to grow by nearly 12,000 jobs by the First Quarter of 2019. This growth is spread across the industry and occupation spectrum. There are employment opportunities for individuals with a wide degree of education and experience. Read more here.

Kansas employers are required by state and federal law to display certain posters in the workplace where they can be viewed by employees. All state posters are available for download FREE of charge through the Kansas Department of Labor (KDOL). They are found online at http://www.dol.ks.gov/Laws/Posters.aspx "We want to ensure Kansas employers have all the resources they need to meet federal and state requirements," said Lana Gordon, KDOL Secretary. "Employers may get solicitations to purchase these required posters, but they need to know there are no–cost options available through our website.
