Release 3 Mandatory Reporting and Trading Partner Information
Release 3 Trading Partner Documents
Kansas Electronic Data Interchange (EDI)
EDI UPDATE: As of January 1st, 2014 EDI Release 3 is now mandatory for all First Reports of Injury (FROI) and Subsequent Reports of Injury (SROI) that are submitted to the Kansas Division of Workers Compensation.
This means that paper First Reports of Injury (form K-WC 1101-A) are no longer accepted and will be mailed back to the sender if received, without being processed.
Kansas began mandating the use of IAIABC EDI Release 3 Standards beginning in April 2013. Implementation of the mandate took place in a tiered or phased approach outlined in an amendment to K.A.R. 51-9-17.
All insurance carriers, group pools and self-insurers are now required to use EDI to file both First Reports of Injury (FROI) and Subsequent Reports of Injury (SROI) using the Release 3 Standards. If you are an insurance
carrier, group pool or self-insurer and are not currently a Trading Partner (which is required to submit reports through EDI), then please submit the Trading Partner documents and complete testing as soon as possible. Not
reporting a FROI or SROI in a timely manner could result in fines for late reporting, and not being a Trading Partner could result in fines for non-compliance with the mandate.
The Kansas Free Site
is for Release 3 trading partners who qualify for and choose to use the free online data entry forms to submit First and Subsequent Reports of Injury. This online option is for authorized Release 3 users only.
Trading Partner Documents are available online. To schedule a testing date or obtain
information about becoming a trading partner, contact the Kansas EDI Coordinator at Ebix, by calling (866) 448-1776 or email KS-EDICoordinator@Ebix.com.
