The Kansas Department of Labor (KDOL), Workers Compensation Division has spent the last two years
preparing to undergo a comprehensive digitization project. This project is being completed in two phases:
planning (DigiComp) and implementation. DigiComp, the planning phase, was completed in October of 2016
with the selection and hiring of a vendor, CapTech Ventures, Inc., to build the new workers compensation
system. Continue to monitor this webpage for updates.
OSCAR Update – June 2017
Overall, the OSCAR project status is moving on schedule. CapTech’s and WorkComp Strategies’ staff have been working with the Workers Compensation staff and IT, both on site
and from their home offices. The IT staff have been training half days with CapTech throughout June. Track 1, which includes the landing pages and ombudsman’s section, has
been tested and was approved on June 28, 2017. Track 2 is in the final stages of development. The requirements for Track 3 are being reviewed and include input from the
subject matter experts (SMEs).
Preparation of the paper dockets for scanning has continued through June including a crash week. A crash is when additional Workers Compensation staff gather to assist with preparing dockets for back scanning.
The OSCAR Communications Team will continue to provide monthly updates of the status of the project and
details regarding the new system. We welcome any questions or input, which can be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org.
