Important Notice:
Beginning this week (July 5, 2020), some claimants are transitioning from PEUC (Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation) to Extended Benefits (EB). Individuals impacted by the transition have been directly contacted and will see a delay in payment.

Continue to monitor our website or follow us on social media for the latest updates on new programs and legislation.

The Kansas Department of Labor’s IT system has been struggling due to the heavy load placed upon it by enormous claims volumes. The benefits site, www.GetKansasBenefits.gov, is now accessible, however you may still experience delays when filing your claims.

I still have not received my $600 back pay.  Every time I log-in to my account I receive different information about my claim.  One time it told me I wasn't eligible then I received notice over a month later that I was, today if first told me I didn't have a claim so I couldn't file for weekly.  It took over a month to get any sort of notice in the mail and I have tried calling on different days and times to try to speak to someone but can never get through to anyone.  What the heck is going on?  I can appreciate the gravity of your working conditions right now and have been patient but what the heck am I suppose to do?

Why do some health care workers receive hazard  pay, compensation if they lose hours due to COVID and others don't.  Is my company miss handling the funds?

All u guys  had good comments  they denied  me of my Unemployment n I don't  get a stimulus check  I don't  know  how. I'm going to get by  plus . I'm  70 years old  it will  be hard  to  get  a job
  9. T | Jun 09, 2020
Do you think that maybe, months later, you assholes can figure out how to staff up to actually help us Kansans that are suffering?  There are thousands without jobs, wanting to work.  I am sure many of them would come answer your phones for you if you would just pull your collective asses out of your heads and help your fellow Kansans.  Despicable.  There should be an investigation on how this has been handled and some people need to lose their jobs (and have to deal with this lousy system)....
  10. Kathy Knox | Jun 09, 2020
how do some people get back pay by saying there self-employed when they're actually not never have worked haven't been working but they just received $7,000 back pay? How does that work? Because I'm working have worked all through the coronavirus issue have not got any hazard pay and these people are sitting on their ass all day long but receiving $7,000 for back pay for supposedly being self-employed

my job is opening back up tomorrow and so i haven't gone back to work yet. filed my normal claim but now they're asking me to mail them a form with some kinda of reason i'm not working?? seems weird and i cant even get anyone on the phone to talk to about it...
  12. Lina | Jun 07, 2020
I've been paid most of my back pay for cares act but they still owe me $900. Today I filled my weekly claim and this time I have to fill out more information as to why I didn't look for work this week...um because I have severe asthma and there's a virus...but I don't  remember getting notice that I was supposed  to. Does anyone know if we are going to get our money and is it mandatory to go back into work force?
  13. Ronald | Jun 05, 2020

There are job openings all across the state. Literally hundreds of unfilled positions in my small town alone.

Don't be afraid to get a job. You will feel better about yourself.

  14. Robert | May 30, 2020
I only received three weeks of my Coivid-19 $600 back pay. Has any one had any luck finding out when the remainder of what is owed will be paid out. I am still owed at least three more weeks of back pay.
  15. Darci | May 28, 2020
asking for someone else but she  started working for a new company in December and and then was furloughed due to the COVID  in March. The employer told she would be eligible for unemployment. She has filed every week and the first week received a denial saying wasn't eligible but it did not have her current employer. Does any one know how this works and how you update the employer information? Is there a way to get ahold of someone to answer question?
  16. A resident | May 27, 2020
Its now been almost 2 weeks since my claim said I received the extra $600 when in fact I did not, after reading some comments I am assuming there are quite a few people that has happened to as well and right now im assuming the state of Kansas is going to pocket that money as extra and not pay it out as its supposed to be. Fucking thieves!!!
  17. Happy Taleave | May 27, 2020

The State of Kansas apparently has absolutely zero intention of providing anything other than the vaguest answers. To the question or concerns of the citizens of the State. It now seems overwhelmingly apparent the Kansas Dept. Of Labor has almost no intention of providing information to its citizens either. In doing so, and for lack of an acceptable substitute. Including the laughing stock FaceBook page which would be laughable, if people had an actual source of information. It seems the best way to glean any potential answers to my question/questions. Is to check the Federal Dept. Of Labor website.

I'm not suggesting any impropriety, based on a political ideology. I'm outright claiming negligence based on the apparent lack of sincerity and the willful withholding of pertinent information as It applies to the Kansas D.O.L. implementation of the Federal CARES Act. Informing the people of Kansas should be the, if not  at least, a top priority. Not complaining about a system that was albeit inherited. Providing an abundance of information would at least help budget, eradicate most Kansas concerns. And reduce the strain on the KDOL UI call centers. Congratulations, you've failed on almost every aspect that could've been used to determine how effective the Kansas response was. That's a failing of leadership not antiquated equipment or software.

The only thing I am certain about at this time regarding the once Great State of Kansas? I'll be moving from it as soon I can afford to do so. Even if it means leaving my birthplace, family, etc.

Thanks again for showing myself and many other Kansans how much they actually mattered. I thought it was about the level shown, somehow I still underestimated. At least it's a problem I can correct.

To the KDOL, thanks for providing me with the clarity to come to thise conclusions.

  18. Unemployed | May 26, 2020

I was unemployed back in March. I attempted to apply online and my account was locked. I was told to call the number and talk to someone directly to open my account again. This week, May 24th, I am finally able to apply.

Will I be payed for all of March and April payments that were missed because they locked my account and the phones were clogged up?

Will any of these payments even go through in my lifetime?

    This is bullshit

  23. Jason Halliburton | May 21, 2020

I still have not recieved that $600 from last week the system says was paid out but in fact it was not. Also, why is the additional $600 counting towards regular unemployment?

  24. Allen McCasland | May 21, 2020
I exhausted my benefits 2 weeks ago but got $600 + the remaining balance of my account of $171. for a $771. total then got $1800. the week of May 9. I filed as usual for May 16 and received nothing. What happened to the extension and the $600. until July 25 and I thought the FPEC picked up and paid your regular benefit amount plus the $600. when you exhausted your benefits. Please help, I'm confused

KDOL announces processing of FPUC back paymentsby Audri Smith | May 15, 2020Kansas Secretary of Labor Delía García confirmed that with the recently increased bank limits for payouts, KDOL successfully processed $99,828,060 in Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation (FPUC) overnight. The more than $99 million represents not only the weekly payments due, but the vast majority of back payments that were remaining. Payments should hit bank accounts by Monday or Tuesday at the latest and debit cards could see the money as early as later today or Saturday.

I was told that the letter of Immediate Release on May 15th by Garcia stating all back pay would be paid out by Tues is not correct. The claims adjuster for unemployment told me to disregard that notice. The claims adjuster said that notice was not true. She said she has spoke to others today, not just me that has not recieved it. She told me it can be several weeks because the system will not allow it to send payments out.

    1) Why did Garcia put out that notice, if it's not true. Why did she not come out with another press release explaining the delay for several more weeks, ( which is being told to us by her employee at unemployment) It looks bad when a employee tells us to disregard her bosses immediate release posted on the website. Which we take seriously because it came from Garcia herself.

    2) If the reason as to why we didnt get the money months ago is because of the cap, and she said the cap has been lifted, why didnt everyone get paid by Tuesday as the release statement posted said it would be?

Was the release document Fake News?

Can someone in government for Kansas give us some real concrete news please. It seems the release of partial of the people,  was so some could say they got paid, that way it would calm the masses.

Did you really think the ones that did not get paid, would stay SILENT?!

  28. William T Goessele | May 20, 2020
what good does it do when they don't email us back with some answers. Someone has to have a way to tell the government that Kansas department of labor is withholding our money, and what I believe is they are broke and juggling money around, knowing that we can't do a thing about it. I have emailed kdol several times and they refuse to email back.

Whay does Claim for Week Ending 16-May-2020This week is not being paid while an issue is resolved. StatusPending ?
  30. William T Goessele | May 19, 2020
I have only received 3 weeks back pay when I should have received at least 4 weeks. I emailed kdol last week and they said they couldn't pay it all at once and that it would all be paid. Here it is another week without getting it and can't get a reply to my email. It's very frustrating that the government provided that money to Kansas department of labor and they won't release it all to us non workers now.
  31. Richard | May 19, 2020
it says to apply on a monday to receive  you back pay. My last name starts with M . And on one site it says apply sunday after noon. And Tuesday  and Thursday. But the back payment site . Says to apply on monday to get back pay. What do I do
  32. Dean | May 19, 2020
When I called in, I was told they cannot pay me the back pay until sometime in June. They said also, if your benifits run out you dont get the 600.00 extra anymore. She told me if you get put on extention then you still dont get the 600.00 because the 600 was only for regular unemployment. I have not recieved anything for 2 weeks now and when I call in to get answers they tell me they have to type in my question and wait for a answer, which took up to 10 minute . Per question. The person whom I was talking to had no knowledge of the process. She had to have been at home, I could hear a dog barking alot in the back ground. I told her, that the release said it would all be paid out by Tues, after sending my question in, she said that the response she got was that the new information states, that ks backpay will start going out as early as the end of the month of May. So, I'm dumb founded because the call center is telling me a different story than the online print from actual dol website. Also, info from news coverage. Why am I talking to a person in call center, that has to email someone ed one else before answering my questions, shouldn't they all have the correct information and be informed of what is going on?

  44. wesley | May 17, 2020

To be eligible for the 10 week extension you could not have applied for unemployment before January 1st 2020.

I feel this is unfair since we are all having to go through the same hardships as everyone else. I am a member of a local union and had to apply 2 weeks in September do to schooling. I was later laid off on January 8th and have exausted my unemployment. Since I had used 2 weeks before January 1st of 2020, I now get none of the extention benefits. PUA says I'm inactive and I doubt I will get any more money until I'm eligible again in September. This is unfair. Nobody is hiring do to COVID-19 and I'm getting close to being out of money. Is there a petition for getting the 10 weeks extended or any other ideas?

  45. John | May 17, 2020

Ready to fight for freedom? This right here? Is why we don't want to depend in the government to save us. Where is the money Laura Kelly? Where is all of the backpay the site says is coming? The money that shows on the Unemployment website? Where is it? Why can no one ever talk to a live person on the phone? I too am neither Republican or Democrat. I was pleased when you took office because Governor Brownback was a disaster. He DESTROYED Kansas and I trusted you to clean up that mess. I realize this Pandemic cant be easy for you, but you have yet to address your public to even inform them what is happening with our money. So Laura Kelly? You should have kept people informed but you didn't and its feeling deliberate. All the while the pinch doesn't effect you. You getting paid by our money and making your mortgage and its business as usual for you. YOU HAVE REFUSED TO INFORM KANSANS OF YOUR PLAN,WITH REGARD TO OUR MONEY, BECAUSE YOU REFUSE TO LISTEN TO THEYTHE VOICE OFPOF YOUR PEOPLE, WE WILL COME TO YOU. YOUR WEBSITE SUCKS!.
