This page provides links to several resources that can aid Kansas workers and families as they return to, and maintain, work.
Women, Infant and Children Nutrition Program (WIC)
WIC is a nutrition program that provides nutrition and health education, healthy food and other services to Kansas families who qualify. Participation in WIC offers: Personalized nutrition information and support, funds to buy healthy food, tips for eating well to improve health, referrals for services that can benefit the whole family, immunization screening and referral, breastfeeding support, nutrition and health classes, meal planning, and more.
Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
Assisting food assistance recipients who are not receiving cash assistance to prepare for, obtain, and maintain employment, with an emphasis on short-term training in high demand occupations. Services are tailored to the individual/family and may include but are not limited to: child care, education/job skills training, books and supplies, tools and/or uniforms, and personal items such as eyeglasses and dentures. All participants receive intensive case management. Transitional services are available as long as the individual continues to receive food assistance.
The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP)
Provides free foods to low-income households throughout Kansas. TEFAP food is shipped throughout the year to participating organizations for distribution.
Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT)
Temporary emergency SNAP benefits for school and child care children.
Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP)
Delivery of monthly surplus foods and commodities to homebound urban and rural seniors in Shawnee and Wabaunsee Counties who's household income is at or below 130% of the Federal Poverty Level.
Meals on Wheels
Meals on Wheels America is the leadership organization supporting the more than 5,000 community-based programs across the country that are dedicated to addressing senior isolation and hunger.
Harvesters Community Food Network
Harvesters’ mission is to feed hungry people today and work to end hunger tomorrow. We are a regional food bank serving a 26-county area of northwestern Missouri and northeastern Kansas.
The Kansas Food Bank Collaborative
Provides comprehensive and compassionate HungerCare whenever and wherever it is needed to safeguard the health, well-being and productivity of food-insecure Kansas families and their children, as well as senior citizens, the homeless and the chronically ill and impoverished among us.
The Kansas Emergency Rental Assistance (KERA) Program
Rent, utility, and internet assistance to households experiencing financial hardship as a result of the COVID pandemic.
Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Cash Assistance
Assisting cash assistance recipients to prepare for, obtain, and maintain employment, with an emphasis on short-term training in high demand occupations.
Tenant Based Rental Assistance
Rental assistance, deposit and utility deposit assistance through grantees. Deposit and utility deposit assistance.
Rental Housing
Rental houses available in Emporia, Ottawa, Osawatomie, Paola, Waverly, and LeRoy.
Emergency Broadband Benefit
The benefit provides up to $50/month discount for broadband services; up to $75/month discount for households on qualifying tribal lands; and a one-time discount of up to $100 for a laptop, desktop computer, or tablet purchased through a participating provider.
Emergency Water Assistance Program (EWAP)
This is a federally funded program that is being administered for Kansas residents by the Kansas Department for Children and Families. The program’s sole focus is to restore or prevent disconnection of water to Kansas households.

1-800-CHILDREN Parent Helpline
Kansas Children’s Service League staff are in your corner providing anonymous, judgment-free support for parents. Families and helpers can easily connect with the information, local resources, and support they need 24/7, even if all they need is a listening ear. No question is off limits!
Child Care Subsidy
The Child Care Subsidy Program helps pay for child care costs. It helps many types of families. These include the following: Families who receive TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) - This program helps these families get and keep jobs, low-income, working families, some families in education or training activities - This provides help for keeping a job or getting a better job,teen parents completing high school or GED.

KanCare
KanCare is the program through which the State of Kansas administers Medicaid. KanCare health plans are required to coordinate all of the different types of care a consumer receives. The goals of the KanCare program are to improve overall health outcomes while slowing the rate of cost growth over time.
Cover Kansas
Assists those who have lost their jobs with accessing affordable health insurance. Navigators are available to assist with the application process and answer any questions.

Independent Living Pandemic Relief Program
